Facing the 1834 Farmhouse & Grey Barn

Episode 2: September 2016

Following the major relocation, the task of unpacking has just begun, and figuring out where to start is both intimidating and overwhelming. I needed a place that would give me the chance to reinvent myself, work, and live independently. The next phase will require patience and numerous dumpsters.

Going through years of accumulated possessions is a formidable challenge for anyone. I was responsible for the respectful removal of the previous family's history—tearing out carpets, getting rid of old furniture, and clearing out forgotten areas of the house and barn—all while moving forward with the intention of starting something new.

Starting something new meant deciding which aspect of my strategy should be prioritized. Should the cafe be the initial focus, or should the inn take precedence? It was decided that the inn should be the first phase to concentrate on. Next, I need to find a reputable individual to help renovate and restore the 1834 farmhouse, updating it to modern standards while preserving its historical charm and elegance.
